13 Aug Up, Up and Away- Take a Ride in a Hot Air Balloon Ride above the TN Wilderness Road
While most of us will travel the TN Wilderness Road over pavement, just off the byway in New Market, you can experience the road from a different vantage.
What’s Up Ballooning offers year-round flights – weather permitting- over portions of the Byway and the Smokies, giving you a perspective of the geographic challenges faced by early settlers in the region.
If you have never experienced a hot air balloon flight, listen in as pilot and owner of What’s Up Ballooning, Ray Fournier talks about the mechanics of going aloft. If you have been planning a trip or wonder how hot air balloons are piloted, learn how the pilot sets up the flight plan, gets the balloon in the air, and how to plan for a “soft landing.”
Ray and his wife, Maryanne welcome you to take a ride. Both Ray and Maryanne are owners, pilots, and former FAA safety instructors. Both have been piloting balloons for over twenty years, and both have flown at the “big one” in Albuquerque International Balloon Festival in New Mexico.
Reserving online requires no deposit. You simply pay on the day of your flight. Both private and group flights can be scheduled. Your flight fee includes photos and a toast at the end of the flight.
