29 Jul Just off the Byway, enjoy a Side Trip to Elrod Falls
Waterfalls are always worth a side trip to take a selfie, picnic, or to take a dip on a warm summer day. Just fifteen miles from Bean Station is Elrod Falls in Sneedville, TN.
The falls are located at a small community park off the main road. Elrod Falls consists of three cascading falls dropping almost 100 feet. The first waterfall is easily accessible from the small parking lot. Small pools in front of the falls make it an ideal place to cool off on a hot day. The other two falls can be a challenging hike upward. Take care as the path can be slippery for water spray and the trails can be worn by weather conditions.
More of a local destination, than a visitor attraction, the park has no developed facilities, so please practice “Leave No Trace” principles.
As you head back to reconnect with the East Tennessee Crossing Byway, plan to stop at Green Tomato Grill in Mooresburg. This is a favorite stop for visitors and for locals to have lunch or dinner. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
