08 Jul Grainger County Tomato Festival – July 19-20, 2024
The Grainger County Tomato Festival was organized in 1992 to promote the area’s world famous fruit and was named by Parade magazine as one of the top free festivals in the United States. In addition to paying homage to the tomato, the festival promotes all of the county’s agricultural products, as well as the many local artists, authors, talent, and craftsmen.
In addition to vendors selling handmade items including leather goods, wooden toys, and iron tools, while demonstrating their craft, there’s a tractor and engine exhibit, and a living history section showing what life was like during the Revolutionary War.
Lastly, the ever-popular tomato wars makes it’s annual comeback. Teams sign up to battle it out with the too ripe to sell tomatoes donated by Grainger County tomato farmers.
