Step back in time in at David Crockett’s 238th Birthday Celebration on Aug. 17, 2024 in Morristown at the Crockett Tavern Museum. Celebrate Tennessee’s favorite son with blacksmithing demonstrations, storytelling, music, museum tours and birthday cake. The museum celebrates Crockett’s birthday annually on the second Saturday of August with the living history event.

Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, and built on the site of David Crockett’s boyhood home, the museum is a reconstruction of the 1790’s John Crockett Tavern. The replica has been a Morristown main stay for more than 50 years and is located a short drive from Crockett’s birthplace in Limestone, Tennessee.

The building contains artifacts from Crockett’s childhood and tells the story of this legendary figure. Davy’s Trading Post on the grounds of the museum offers a variety of Crockett and pioneer-related items for purchase. An interpretive kiosk, part of an Eagle Scout project, is located on the museum grounds and provides detailed historical information.
